|| Convention || Twitch Con 2018

10/26/18

I write this as I am stuck in the airport till the morning due to many delays and let downs on my travel from my city to the where Twitch is having their annual convention. With that being said and aside from being MIA from blogging, I've been immersed in the live-streaming world called Twitch.

Twitch is a live-streaming platform that streams various things from video games (98%) to cooking, arts & crafts, talk shows, podcasts to even those who just want to chat with others.

I have taken up streaming the various video games I've collected over time and those that have been just released. Now I haven't fully invested all of my time to Twitch or streaming just yet, I've been on the site for less than a year now and I can say that I've met some cool and interesting people. But I will say that every single person that has had conversations with me and continuously return to my streams, I appreciate every single one of them.

I've been to Twitch Con last year that was hosted in Los Angeles, CA and this year's Twitch con is being hosted in San Jose, CA. I've never been to San Jose and I hope that it doesn't disappoint but Twitch Con...

I'm excited this year because of two things the first; I am an affiliate to Twitch and the second is because of the lineup of panels. The panels look to be more educational and focused on helping streamers grow, get sponsors, become partners, learn about the new tech and extensions that are being implemented for streamers.

Needless to say, I'm excited. Here are some of the panels I am looking forward to:
  • Meet & Greet: Black Girl Gamers
  • Understanding your Value and Pitching your story
  • Behind the Stream: The Life of a Broadcaster
  • Sponsorship Best Practices
  • The Secret Language of Twitch
  • Small Streams & Big Dreams
  • What does it REALLY take to Grow on Twitch?
And a bunch more.

From the short amount of time that I've spent on Twitch I can 100 percent say that streaming has helped me with to put it bluntly "small talk" which is something that I really wanted to work on but also just my communication skills in general. I am a quiet person so normally my lips are sealed, but I felt that I was lacking in communication skills...its not that I was told that I'm lacking it's just something that I perceived.

In closing, I'm excited. I'm excited to grow and learn from meeting all of these streamers, partners, and more. I'm excited to add and adapt what I soaked up from Twitch Con and add it to my streams but perhaps using some of the advice/tips for the blog as well.

I'll be at Twitch Con for the weekend, so I plan on updating the blog with a Post Twitch Con review!
